Chhillar was born on May 14, 1997, in the hamlet of Bamnoli, in the district of Jhajjar, to a Haryanvi family. In addition to being a medical doctor and scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Dr Neelam Chhillar is also the departmental head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS).
Chhillar attended St. Thomas’ School in New Delhi, where she graduated with honours in English as the best student in the country in class 12. She also received a perfect score of 96 per cent on her board exams. It was her first time taking the All India Premedical Test, and she passed with flying colours. Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College in Sonipat is where she studied medicine (MBBS).
Besides Haryanvi, Chhillar is also proficient in Hindi and English and her language. She is a skilled Kuchipudi dancer, having had her instruction from Raja and Radha Reddy when she was younger.

Chhillar will make her Bollywood debut in Prithviraj, a Yash Raj Films production directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. The film is based on the epic poem Prithviraj Raso, which was written in the Braj Bhasha language and tells the story of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput monarch from the Chahamana dynasty, and is set during his reign. She plays the Princess of Kannauj, Sanyogita, also Prithviraj’s bride in the film. She was cast after multiple auditions and trials. She will appear in the film with Akshay Kumar, who will play the titular character of Prithviraj, in which she will also appear.
Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the film was initially supposed to be released on the occasion of Diwali in 2020, but this was postponed. “It’s a great duty to portray princess Sanyogita, a forceful personality who stood up for what was right and made the most significant life choices on her own,” Chhillar said of her character in the film.
A three-film agreement with Yash Raj Films has been struck. Chhillar’s second project is named The Great Indian Family, funded by the studio and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. She will star with Vicky Kaushal.
