The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival was founded with a mission to celebrate the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke.
Jai Bhim is a courtroom drama which is all about the story of the couple- Rajakannu (Manikandan) and Sengeni (Lijomol Jose) who belong to the Irular Tribe and live in Konamalai near Villupuram, in sheer poverty. They have a girl child, and are expecting another one soon. One day, Rajakannu is falsely accused of stealing jeweler and is taken into custody by the police. After being tortured in the lockup, Rajakannu absconds from the jail, and his wife Sengeni seeks the help of a lawyer Chandru (Suriya) . How does Chandru solve the case, is the rest of the story. The movie is inspired by a real-life case handled by the retired MHC Judge K Chandru.
